Successful, bright people rarely experience failure, and so they don’t learn how to learn from that failure
MOST OF OUR READERS ARE YOUNG STUDENTS AND MBA PERSUING STUDENTS. HOW WILL YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO THEM?
My name is Shruti Shatakshi. I belong to deoghar, Jharkhand. I always had a strong zeal to pursue my dreams & to achieve that I left my home town after class 10, stayed in kolkata till graduation. I always saw myself as a self-dependent person and opted for an MBA which helped me to achieve my dreams.
HOW DID YOU GRAVITATE TOWARDS MBA? WHY MBA AND NOT ANY OTHER SPECIALIZATION COURSE?
Studying an MBA degree forces you to get out of the comfort zone. You’ll explore the latest International Business trends, apply the newest management tools and techniques, and challenge yourself to improve your business, teams, and collaboration.
An MBA is also a great way to prepare for a changing business environment. The abilities you develop are also the best tools you have to adapt to the unavoidable change of industries, the marketplace, and the ways people do business and give you a proper understanding of the corporate sector and I always had a great interest in working in a corporate. So it was very important to first clear my concept and have a good understanding of what is corporate, and for that, I got into the MBA.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOTIVATION BEHIND PURSUING MBA? WHEN DID YOU FINALLY DECIDE THAT YOU NEED TO DO MASTERS?
There is a wide variety of benefits to studying an MBA – but the motivations that drive a student to consider, enrol in and ultimately complete their Masters of Business Administration can be vastly different. For me, the major motivation for completing a post-graduate level qualification was to position myself strongly in a competitive job market. The knowledge and respect gained from completing specialist business qualifications are generally considered to be beneficial for a range of roles across all industries – especially for those roles that require management and leadership skills. Applying for new roles after the completion of your MBA may allow us to sneak ahead of your competition, as many employers look favorably on Masters Qualifications and personally I always wanted to be a strong self-dependent person. So whenever, I felt down this one thing kept me going.
I decided to pursue my MBA in the 3rd year of grads.
HOW DID YOU CHOOSE HIERANK OVER OTHERS? HOW SHOULD ONE GO ABOUT CHOOSING A UNIVERSITY?
First of all, I will always be thankful to Hiearnk Business School, Noida for helping me to achieve my dreams. I choose this college as I heard from alumni about the teaching pattern of this college and exposure which it gives to make the student industry-ready.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) is one of the most sought-after post-graduate courses in the country.
Choosing the right college for pursuing an MBA could be daunting for many but it is a crucial step in a student’s career path. Students need to research colleges and consider several factors before zeroing in on one.
- Check for the programs offered and consider your eligibility
- Consider the ranking and affiliation of the college
- The course fee is one of the important factors to consider
- It is essential to also consider the placement records
- Last but not least, Faculty matters a lot. A college with faculties will always be the best for any student.
DOES HIERANK PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS?
The best thing about this college is that our chairman sir Prof Rajesh Sahay and ma’am Jayanti Sahay are a gem of a person. They have a single motto that every student should be able to get a good education. As today also many students can’t afford a good education but this college provides scholarship, loans and also have an affordable fee structure so that no one remains deprived of education.
WHAT WAS YOUR TOPIC OF RESEARCH FOR MBA? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT SUBJECT FOR RESEARCH?
My topic of research was employee engagement. I choose this subject as Hr is also my specialization and I have done my internship too in the field of hr and I was there into employee engagement profile. Apart, from that, I have studied many books on employee engagement and found it quite interesting. I have gained both practical and theoretical knowledge in this field therefore I opted on this topic.
DID YOU UNDERGO A RIGOROUS ACADEMIC SCHEDULE? HOW WAS THAT DIFFERENT FROM YOUR UNDER-GRADUATE COURSE?
Mba is a rigorous program we can’t deny that but it also depends how well your faculty helps you in dealing with such pressure both easily and calmly. As this is one of the basic things for an individual to learn that how to handle pressure calmly if one wants to be in the top and at Hierank our faculty helps us to deal with such rigorous patiently.
MBA is a professional program it’s completely different from graduation. The pressure we have during masters is completely different from what we face during graduation as this program is going to shape our future.
But for me, my graduation was also quite hectic as I was a History Honours student from Scottish Church College, Calcutta University and we had a vast syllabus. I had a rigorous program from graduation itself so it was a little easy for me in MBA.
HIERANK IS WELL RENOWNED FOR ITS BRILLIANT FACULTY. HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FACULTY?
One of the best things about Hierank is its faculty. Faculties are really supporting, encouraging, well experienced and friendly. They are the true guides that anyone needs during MBA. Especially Dr. Rajni ma’am our HR professor and Ilyaz Sir (Training Placement Officer). They both have provided me immense support during my MBA journey.
WHAT ROLE DOES MBA SPECIALIZATION PLAY AND WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO CHOOSE YOUR SPECIALIZATION?
I believe one should be careful while choosing their specialization as it is going to shape their future.
My specialization was both Marketing and Human Resource. I choose Marketing and HR as both of them is a fast-paced and exciting industry. It is perfect for people who are efficient, decisive and strategic and have good analytical skills. You need to have excellent communication skills and you need to be able to relate to almost everyone around you and I believe I have acquired these skills during my MBA.
SHARE SOME INSIGHT ON YOUR INTERVIEW PREPARATION AND THE PLACEMENT PROCESS AT HIERANK?
For my interview, I went through my course books thoroughly so that all my concepts are clear. Apart from that our TPO sir had prepared us properly by conducting mock interview sessions, GK sessions and most importantly helped us to work on our analytical skills.
NOW YOU TOOK UP A JOB AT EXTRAMARKS AS A BUINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
I am a person of simple needs. I have never stopped feeding my curiosity. To learn things while you are at it is an education that I look up to. When you ask where do you see yourself five years from now, the answer is straight and simple. During these five years, I want to continue learning while I am performing my duty. The cycle of learning never stops. I see myself gaining knowledge in multiple fields. There is enough to learn for me. This is what I believe in. If I can master various tasks, I feel I can be useful to the company in more than one way. This process of learning can motivate me to work with new potential. I know that this organization has given enough room for learners like me. I hope I can repay this liberty in the future.
